Even before I moved to Denver, the National Western Stock Show parade was on my must-do list. Every year I’ve either been out of town, had a calendar conflict, or it was cancelled for bad weather.
But this year, I finally made it to the parade. The weather was just about as perfect as it can be for January in Denver. A bright sunny (relatively) warm day with nary a snowflake in sight. I packed up my camera, hopped on the light rail and made my way downtown. The parade makes its way 15 blocks up 17th Street from Union Station to Broadway. The parade started off with a herd of longhorn cattle, and then horses, cowboys, tractors and more horses, cowboys and tractors.
Now that the parade is done we have a couple of weeks of rodeo, stock show, and all kinds of fun to look forward to. If you’ve never experienced the National Western Stock Show you are missing out on some serious cowboy fun.
Here are a few of my favorites from today. You’ll find more images from today on the Marie Leslie Photography Facebook page here.
